“Myself and Carbon skates go back a very long way now. I‘ve been skating Carbon aggressive skates since the very first Deshi Carbon model in 2008 and then every subsequent USD Model since, literally every single Carbon skate since the very start. It was love at first sight, I was immediately obsessed with their refined looks, this new modern and extra light weight, controlled responsive feel of a built in liner skate. It felt like they been created specifically for my more technical and fast paced style of skating, and I quickly developed a rather strong, specific opinion and deep passion for this new technology in aggressive skating.
Naturally as the market progressed over the years and trends changed, I saw the Carbon Skates slowly slipping away more and more, with some models being compromised to a plastic or more hybrid version of the original concept, to make them more appealing to a wider audience. It was sad to witness the rise of classic hardboot skates again, as I truly felt and believed in the benefits of Carbon.
But finally the times have changed, technology has progressed and now taking over 10 years of work and feedback from riders, using the newest technology and materials to finally bring a real breath of fresh air into this currently standardized, old fashioned, ‘hard boot and liner’ skate market once again.
I can’t describe in words how excited I am to see this product finally come to fruition after over 10 years, and to showcase Carbon to it’s full potential. It now offers an incomparably unique and significant feel and control to any other skate on the market and even every other Carbon skate before it, the previous models don’t even come close to the performance of this latest product.
At the heart of this new model, and the thing I’m most excited about, is the all new 100% Carbon Shell! It is the first UFS carbon shell in the industry made out of compression moulded 100% carbon, making them lighter and more responsive that ever, offering the best possible power transfer in an aggressive skate in history. And my personal favourite thing, it uses our new ADL fit technology (All Day Long fit). So even after a full long day skate your feet feel completely fine and not beaten up or sore like in previous Carbon skates. The build in liner uses EVA, special 3D foam and memory foam padding to get the perfect fit and all day comfort.
The first thing you notice when looking at this skate is obviously the unique looking upper design. It reflects the performance driven focus of the skate and is influenced by a mix of futuristic and vintage running shoes, with the use of materials like mesh, microfiber and high quality PU construction.
Next you see the Mid Sole, which not only gives the boot a complete shoe look but also creates a seamless connection to the Soulframe, enhancing both the one piece skate aesthetic and feel.
Coming next we have the latest Kizer Soulframe which embodies the USD Aeon ethos of ‘Lower, Lighter, Faster’ but now also longer lasting and more responsive thanks to the superfluid material, and of course it’s fully replaceable! But most importantly and unlike previous Carbon models, it now uses 8 additional extra mounting points to create an extra solid stance and base, avoiding the old floppy feel of only using 2 standard UFS bolts. The Soul frame offers the best possible performance and the perfect match for this new Carbon boot.
For the cuff we modified the beloved USD Sway cuff with some new V cut modifications and a slightly softer material. We also slightly raised the cuff position and added the revolver system to offer more stability compared to the older Carbon models and have the option of mounting various other aftermarket cuffs.
Furthermore this is the first Carbon skate using the new UFS 2.0 system. This allows the use of frames with mounting between 160mm to 200mm distance, making it possible to lower your frame deck height by using a longer UFS mount. This makes the skate compatible with new UFS 2.0 KIZER Lowrider frames.
All in all this is the lightest, highest performing complete aggressive boot on the market and possibly in the history of the sport. Offering the very latest state-of-the-art skating technology and materials. USD once again reshaping how aggressive skating can feel and be capable of, and I’m very proud to be a part of it.
